It is time to check the results of the extension stage project CWPharma 2. In the webinar you will get to know how the waste water treatment plants performed in the removal of active pharmaceutical ingredients in fitness tests and what were the results of the feasibility study done at Helsinki waste water treatment plant.

Experts from the Finnish Environment Institute and the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea discussed the CWPharma findings and action plan in June 2021.

The CWPharma project´s final seminar on the 18th of November 2020 attracted 131 attendees from over 15 countries. The seminar presentations are now available.

Since 2017 CWPharma project has worked to gather data on the consumption of pharmaceuticals and their concentrations in the environment, to identify the most problematic compounds and to find the best ways to decrease their emissions to the environment. One of the key findings is that twelve out of 75 studied pharmaceuticals were identified as a risk to the environment. The Action Plan for reducing emissions highlights the need for combination of emission reduction schemes.
